Grid Connections

In most instances the size of a biogas project will be dependant on the volumes of waste, the size and cost of the plant.

Once a size of plant has been decided upon, the main choice is how the electrical output is to be used. Options range from on site use, using some generation on site and exporting excess output to the local electricity network, to exporting the entire output to the local electricity network.

In the majority of cases external connection for the export will be to the low voltage distribution network operated by the local Distribution Network Operator (DNO), as opposed to the high voltage transmission network; often referred to as the National Grid.

We are able to assist with all negotiations, whether they are end users or national networks and specifically we will negotatite connection applications, connection costs, reinforcement costs and on-going system costs.
